What are some of the shortcomings of Selye's General Adaptation Syndrome model?
What will be an ideal response?
Though Selye's model has intuitive appeal, it has its limitations. First, as a biological model, it does not address psychological processes such as cognitive appraisals of stressors and how they can uniquely affect one's perceptions and coping skills. Second, Selye claimed that there was universality to stressors and their effects. In other words, all stressors should have similar effects, but this is not accurate.
