Describe the effect of the ombak and how it is created.
What will be an ideal response?
The ombak is an acoustical beating effect called a "wave" which creates the brilliant, shimmering sound of the Gamelan. The tuning of the paired gangsa in the gong keybar is such that one of the pair is tuned slightly lower than the other. Played together they create the ombak effect.
