What is an IPv6 anycast address?

What will be an ideal response?

Anycast addressing is a cross between unicast and multicast. Multiple nodes are assigned the same address, and packets sent to that address are delivered to the "closest" node. So although packets sent with a multicast address are delivered to multiple destinations, the anycast address is sent to only one of a group of nodes sharing the same anycast address.
