Briefly explain some general guidelines to coping with stress

1) Seek control of situations that produce stress. An example of this would be to begin preparation/studying for a test that is causing you stress. 2) Redefine a perceived "threat" as a "challenge." Use your perceptual abilities to take a downturn in your life and make it into an opportunity for growth. 3) Take advantage of family, friends, and telephone hotlines, all part of a social support system. 4) Develop relaxation techniques to reduce physiological arousal. This can include things like meditation, muscle relaxation, and hypnosis. 5) Maintain a healthy lifestyle through good nutrition, exercise, adequate sleep, and avoiding or moderate use of alcohol, tobacco, or drugs. 6) Remember that stress is a natural part of life, can keep life interesting, and can be a gratifying experience when viewed in the proper perspective.
