What was the early vision of how the Internet would be used? What is the more contemporary vision? Why did it change??
What will be an ideal response?
ANSWER:
The Internet was originally developed to continue weapons research at Livermore and other labs even if civilization was wiped out in a nuclear war. It was then called ARPANET and was funded by the U.S. Department of Defense. As use of the Internet spread to wider populations, it became a medium of scientific exchange, to a public information resource, to an online shopping plaza, to a conduit for social interaction, and to a digital home amusement center.
