Discuss the techniques that parents use to restrict their children's behavior

What will be an ideal response?

One technique parents use to restrict child behavior is induction, or reasoning. This
involves explaining to the child why one behavior is preferable over another. Some
parents use power assertive methods. These include physical punishment and denial of
privileges. Power assertive methods are associated with lower levels of internal moral
conduct in children as well as higher levels of aggression and delinquent behavior.
Finally, some parents use, or threaten to use, withdrawal of love. They isolate or ignore
misbehaving children. Because parental approval is important, loss of love can result in
guilt and anxiety in children.
