What is a honeypot and why is it used?
What will be an ideal response?
Answer: A technique used to distract and sometimes catch hackers is use of a honeypot. A honeypot is a computer located in the DMZ with attractive, but irrelevant data. The honeypot is used to lure hackers, distracting them from bypassing other firewalls and hacking into the enterprise database. Some organizations use a honeypot to catch hackers by tracing them back to their source while the hackers are busy hacking the honeypot.
