What are some general suggestions you should try to foster more effective interpersonal interactions? How can you apply these suggestions in your own relationship?
What will be an ideal response?
Use the other person's name as much as possible as you talk with him or her. Look at the other
person, but strive for balance and comfort in eye contact. Be careful in your use of eye contact
with people from cultural or ethnic backgrounds different than your own. Encourage the other
person to talk about himself or herself. Keep the conversation casual, light, and positive. Be
confident in yourself and listen carefully to what is being said. Keep abreast of current events.
Use casual talk to help reduce the uncertainty between yourself and others. Know when and how
to end the conversation.
