List seven Flash features that can be used to build accessibility into your projects.
What will be an ideal response?
• Control the reading order of labeled contents, reduce the file size, apply ActionScript to direct the reading order, or copy a version of the content and place it offstage in an easy-to-read column.
• Include scalable graphics and magnification so users can zoom in on rich media content without losing quality. Add synchronized narrative audio for large blocks of text.
• Apply video control skins that support closed-captioning and are easy to see and use. Allow users to control motion.
• Create customized color swatches with high-contrast color palettes. Users should not have to rely on color alone to interact with content.
• Make looping elements such as movie clips or movies inaccessible. Screen readers will respond to the movie playing and will start reading at the top of the page.
• Build in voice and keyboard controls so that users can navigate rich media content using touch- or mouse-free navigation.
• Select text based on size requirements. Antialiased text has smoother edges, which is preferred when you need to show text at small sizes. In contrast, antialiased text that is animated is more difficult to read; the Flash Player can turn off antialiasing when text is animated.
