Distinguish between authoritative and authoritarian parenting.

What will be an ideal response?

Authoritative and authoritarian parents both exert control over the lives of their children, but they do so in significantly different ways. The authoritative parent is warm and communicative, discussing disciplinarian actions with their children. The authoritarian parent, on the other hand, is less warm and feels no need to explain or justify his or her actions. While authoritative parenting has been found to be associated with positive outcomes, research on authoritarian parenting has linked such an approach with children who are irritable and moody.
