Explain polarization.

What will be an ideal response?

The orientation of radio waves as they leave an antenna is known as polarization. Waves follow the plane of their electrical fields, and the electric field is parallel to the radiating elements. (The antenna element is the metal part of the antenna that is doing the radiating.) If the antenna is in a vertical position (perpendicular to the ground), then the polarization is said to be vertical; if it is in a horizontal position (parallel to the ground) the polarization is horizontal.
