Hi, everyone. My name is Janice and I am here to show you how
to make a homemade apple pie.

Have you ever wanted a good, mouth-watering piece of apple
pie but you thought it was too difficult to make?
Making apple pie is not difficult at all. Anyone who can follow
a simple recipe can make one and you will be rewarded with a
favorite treat that you can take to picnics, parties, and
Thanksgiving dinners.
I was given this recipe by my aunt several years ago and have
made apple pie for my family ever since.
Today I want to show how you can easily make your own
apple pie.

The speaker should not have started with her name and the topic. In most
situations such as in class, the audience already knows who you are, so it is unnecessary.
Also, it kills the impact of the attention-getter. In addition, the speaker reveals the topic but
does not preview the specific points in the body. A good preview briefly lists the main
points so the audience knows what is coming up.
