What personal characteristics are associated with political participation?

What will be an ideal response?

Higher levels of political efficacy (feeling that one can personally make a difference by participating in public affairs), more interest in politics, socioeconomic variables such as age, educational achievement, income, homeownership and length of residence, such that these variables are positively related (as age rises, participation tends to rise also). Race and ethnicity (Whites participate at higher levels than those in other groups), and nativity (whether one was born in the United States), as well as living in a "pro-voting" culture are also associated with higher participation.
