Briefly discuss how the deadliness of war has changed over time.

What will be an ideal response?

Consider that from the time of Rome to 1899, the average period of time necessary for 1 million people to die in war was about 50 years. Since 1900, that period is one year. According to political scientist Jack Levy (1983), from 1500 to 1975, there were 589 wars exacting some 142 million deaths. Four times as many of those deaths (80 percent of the total) occurred in the twentieth century than in the four centuries leading up to it.
