Answer: The first method of presentation illustrated is impromptu speaking, in which the speaker talks without any preparation. Impromptu speeches don’t permit attention to the details of public speaking such as audience adaptation, research, and style. A manuscript speech is written word for word and read aloud, allowing the speaker to control the timing and use exact wording, with no risk of forgetting or danger of being unable to find the right word. You can also distribute copies and avoid being misquoted; however, audiences generally prefer a speaker to interact with them. A memorized speech is written out word for word, memorized, and then recited. Memorization allows the speaker to move about and concentrate on the delivery, but runs the risk of the speaker forgetting the speech. Finally, extemporaneous speaking involves preparation with no exact wording. This is the method that comes closest to conversation, allowing the speaker to move about and be themselves.
