Describe Macromedia Director (or another authoring package), and discuss the theatrical metaphors it uses in its authoring environment. How do these metaphors relate to the interactive and presentational aspects of multimedia creation?

What will be an ideal response?

Macromedia Director is a powerful, complex, and full-featured authoring tool. Macromedia Director movies are cross platform, but require a platform-specific “projector.” Its Shockwave movies are playable across platforms in a browser using a plug-in. Macromedia Director stores multimedia element in its Cast. Its timeline is called the Score, and elements placed in the Score then appear on the stage, which is the visual presentation area. A particular instance of an element in the Score (and on the stage) is a sprite. Director’s scripting language is called Lingo.
