What are some ways an AMI practitioner addresses energy excess and deficiency?
What will be an ideal response?
Answer: An AMI practitioner may address areas of kyo, or energy deficiency, by using her thumbs to press into the spot and holding it for 7-10 seconds. Areas of kyo usually feel soft or hollow, and this pressure is intended to tonify or strengthen the weak area. For areas of jitsu, or energy excess, the practitioner will press into the tissue, which often feels hard, resistant, or painful, for 3-5 seconds, and then release. This is then repeated about 10 times or until she detects a change. This technique is intended to disperse the excess energy and sedate the area.
