CSS allows the developer to customize the appearance of a layout using fonts, styles, colors, and different effects on the appearance of the layout and its widgets. Scene Builder uses JavaFX Modena FX8 CSS style by default when you drag and drop controls onto the Content panel. You can change the JavaFX theme used in your layout by selecting Preview from the Menu bar and selecting one of the other JavaFX themes listed in the drop-down box.
