What is the primary difference between text editors and word processors?

What will be an ideal response?

Text editors edit plain text files in ASCII or Unicode format. Word processors are also used for editing textual content, but they add extra formatting characters to the document by providing options for font size, boldface, italics, underlining, and other enhancements. These additions are not needed for the purpose of general text editors, which is to work with files used by the computer system.
