There is no single right answer for this but the scenario the student presents should meet these criteria:
Injury does not pose risk to performance – e.g. wrist injury to a cross country runner
Situation poses minimal risk for further injury – e.g. cut that can be covered and protected. She has little chance for developing lasting consequences – e.g. contusions may hurt but there is rarely a concern for lasting damage
