Explain "job design" in this scenario

Answer: Job design focuses on the structuring or restructuring of key components of a job. The part-time teaching job is brand new (has never been used before at Walton Elementary), so job design occurred early on, before the candidates were interviewed. The successful candidate will not only be suited for the part-time job, but also for full-time teaching in the event that (1) enrollments at Walton justify a full-time job and (2) the grant money will be available for more than one year. In this case, it seems appropriate for the job to be designed first and then for the principal to try to find a match for that job. However, if the grant is not available next year, Mr. McCoy says that he will to try to place the person hired for the part-time job "somewhere in the school corporation." If that happens, then a job might need to be designed or redesigned to fit the newly hired teacher. Student answers may vary.
