How can you work toward getting an interview and gaining the trust of your source?
What will be an ideal response?
Understand your purpose. The purpose of an interview will help you determine whether you need 5 min on the phone with a source to confirm some information or several interviews of a few hours each to complete the task at hand. You should convey these needs to your source right away. In approaching a source, either by phone, in person, or through some other means, make sure you display proper manners. Once you get through to the source, introduce yourself and explain your purpose. If you are planning an in-person interview, which is usually the best way to go, give consideration to where you want to meet the source. When setting up a meeting with a source, go to the source’s turf whenever possible.
