Identify one underlying mechanism that may contribute to venous stasis wounds
What will be an ideal response?
Increased venous pressures cause an excessive leakage of vascular fluids from the capillary into the interstitial tissue. Large fibrinogen molecules that are released into the interstitial tissue will create a fibrin barrier outside the capillary. This barrier may interfere with oxygen and nutrient delivery to the surrounding tissue.
