Before uninstalling a SQL Server 2012 instance or making changes to installed features, make sure that you have taken a full backup of all production user databases. Under normal circumstances, you should always use functionality provided by the Uninstall or Change a Program feature that can be accessed from the Windows Server 2008 R2 Control Panel. Attempting to delete files, shortcuts, services, or Registry keys directly may result in undesirable system behavior or an unrecoverable error state. You can choose to uninstall an individual instance and associated features or the shared SQL Server features on the host. If you need to uninstall multiple instances, you will need to perform the operation multiple times for each instance that you want to remove.
