Name and describe the three personality parts according to Freud. Be sure to describe how the parts of personality interrelate, and what strategies mediate between motivation and the expression of personality and behavior

What will be an ideal response?

The student must name and describe the three parts and discuss what happens during times when the id and superego conflict. Present at birth, the id is primitive and unconscious. It acts on impulses and desires immediate gratification. The superego (our conscience) is in charge of values and morals learned from society. The ego is conscious and rational. It tries to satisfy the needs of the id without violating our morals. When there is conflict, mental disorder may occur or the individual may use ego defense mechanisms, which prevent upset feelings temporarily. However, these mechanisms leave the underlying conflict unresolved.
