* The eardrum causes the hammer, anvil and stirrup to vibrate, striking the oval window, which leads to the inner ear.
* The movement of the oval window causes the basilar membrane to move the organ of Corti, causing the hair cells to brush against the tectorial membrane.
* The tectorial membrane causes the neurons of the auditory nerve to fire and send the message to the thalamus and the temporal lobe.
