Compare and contrast the traditional roles of mothers and fathers in caring for their children in Western culture. What do you see as the advantages and disadvantages of these roles?

Would you change the parenting roles to improve the child's chances for healthy development? If so, how?

What will be an ideal response?

The answer should clearly identify the differences in the ways that mothers typically
respond as compared to fathers. An ideal answer will recognize that the differences
provide a well-balanced environment for the child as long as one parent's way of
playing or caring for the child does not dominate. It should be noted that single
mothers and single fathers are able to provide an equally well-rounded environment.
