Discuss briefly three ways that a preparation outline differs from speaking notes
What will be an ideal response?
Answer: Answers will vary but should include the following. Preparation outline: detailed; may be created using the clustering strategy; written in complete sentences; the specific purpose is written and labeled at the top; includes the blueprint and the full versions of the introduction and conclusion. Speaking notes: used during a speech; are a shorter outline; use electronic technology and note cards to display them; do not contain detailed sentences (except perhaps the first and last sentences of a speech); have shortened versions of an introduction and conclusion; includes a central idea but not a purpose statement; statistics, direct quotations, sources, and key signposts are written out; and may include delivery cues.
