The decision to legally or illegally emigrate from a foreign country to the United States is mainly driven by the potential earning opportunities available in the U.S. economy. Why do earning opportunities play a major role in the decision to migrate?
What will be an ideal response?
The main driver of economic immigration is the higher paying jobs found in other nations. Other things equal, larger wage differentials between nations strengthen the incentive to migrate and therefore increase the flow of immigrants towards the country providing the greater wage opportunities. Furthermore, higher wages for identical or nearly identical jobs provide immigrants with larger financial rewards from their respective stocks of human capital and allow them to improve their standards of living. .
