Discuss cross-cultural and cross-ethnic group divorce rates. Then describe how negative emotional expression and the lack of expression of positive emotions are related to divorce

What will be an ideal response?

Couples who marry in the U.S. have a fifty percent chance of divorce. The divorce rate in nearly every other country is lower than that of the U.S. Of those marriages that end in divorce, African American and Asian American couples tend to be married longer at the time of divorce than do European American couples, and ethnically mixed marriages are at greater risk. Negative emotions displayed during conflict between the couple predict early divorce but not later divorce. The absence of positive emotions also takes a toll and results in later divorce.
