What is cochannel interference?

What will be an ideal response?

WLANs that are in the same area can be a source of interference.  Cochannel interference can result when two or more networks attempt to use the same channel. This is because if all of the APs were set to the same channel number then it would result in reduced throughput by forcing each station to wait a longer period of time for their turn to transmit.
