What are the economic justifications for specialist physicians receiving high fees for services?
What will be an ideal response?
Costs of education are high: 4 years of college and 4 years of medical school. Training time is long: 3-5 years of residency and 2-4 years of fellowship. Those are years of hard work for low pay. Specialist physicians start their career late and have fewer work years for repaying education costs, attaining a standard of living appropriate for trained professionals, and funding their retirements.
