Considering American music today, what was the musical impact of the conversion of many African slaves to Christianity?
What will be an ideal response?
The conversion of African slaves to Christianity resulted in the creation of numerous genres that would otherwise not have existed. Included in this category are spirituals, black gospel, and rhythm and blues (which evolved from black church music.) Since rock evolved to some degree out of rhythm and blues, it too has a connection.
