Which demographic variable has the strongest correlation to the type of book purchased? Is the correlation positive or negative? What can you say about the correlation?
What will be an ideal response?
Age appears to have the strongest correlation to the type of book that a customer purchases based on the sample data provided. The correlation of .73 indicates a positive correlation between age and book type, meaning that the older a person is the more likely they are to purchase either a digital or audio copy from this publisher. This correlation is positive because I associated a value of 1-4 for each book type from hardcover to audio. This was necessary in order to convert the data into nominal data to use in the analysis. If I had reversed the order from 4 to 1 then the correlation would be negative.
