Explain how professionalism may be attributed to billing procedures
What will be an ideal response?
Professionalism for billing and collections is demonstrated by being organized when submitting claims and posting payments. Receipt should be kept in a neat and organized fashion. Additionally, clearly written and concise notes pertaining to specific patient situations should be included within the organized paperwork. Punctuality is also important. Claims should be filed as soon as possible following the date of service. Posting payments should be done immediately on receipt. Politeness is another way to demonstrate professionalism in regard to billing. The medical assistant should be polite when discussing issues with customer or provider service departments of medical insurance companies. Remaining polite while conveying any concerns will result in a more positive and beneficial outcome.
