Discuss the ways that culture, gender, and technology affect love in romantic relationships
What will be an ideal response?
Answer: Cultures vary in what types of love they value. Members of individualist
cultures (for example, Europeans) are likely to place greater emphasis on romantic love and on individual fulfillment. Members of collectivist cultures are likely to spread their love over a large network of relatives. Romanticism seems to increase on the basis of the amount of choice you have in selecting a partner. In countries where there is much choice, as in the United States and Europe, romanticism is high; in countries where there is less choice, as in India and parts of Africa, romanticism is lower.
