According to the Annual Report to the Nation on the Status of Cancer, the trends from 1998-2007 showed a decrease in cancer mortality in both genders across all races/ethnicities except American Indian and Alaskan Native women. All men had a decrease in deaths from both lung and prostate cancers and all men except for American Indians and Alaskan Natives had a decrease in deaths from colorectal cancer. In women, whites, blacks and Hispanics had a decrease in mortality from breast cancer. White women, Asian/Pacific Islander women and Hispanic women had decreases in lung cancer deaths, but American Indian/Alaskan Native women actually had an increase in deaths from cancer of this site.
