Explain why labels push for 360 deals.
What will be an ideal response?
As sales of recorded music become relatively less important in the overall music industry, labels
often seek to gain a portion of revenue that traditionally was outside their purview. Labels believe this
approach is fair because the money spent on record production may not by itself generate a reasonable
profit for the label. A label may seek a portion the revenue generated by licensed merchandise sales,
endorsements, touring revenue, and other sources.
