Speech anxiety is the fear or apprehension experienced before, during, or after a public speaking
situation. Speech anxiety is different from communication apprehension, which is more of a general
predisposition to be anxious in a variety of communication situations (the two are certainly related).
Strategies for managing speech anxiety include: (1 ) selecting a topic you enjoy and know; (2 ) be
prepared; (3 ) be confident; (4 ) think positively; and (5 ) practice the presentation.
