Describe the practice of Islam in Saudi Arabia.
What will be an ideal response?
The ultraconservative brand of Islam, known as Wahhabism, practiced in Saudi Arabia. Wahhabism frowns on smoking, drinking, and virtually any contact between unmarried members of the opposite sex. Further, the Qur’an is part of Saudi Arabia’s constitution. The country bases its legitimacy on its commitment to Islam and the implementation of sharia, or Islamic law. Anything that isn’t allowed in Islam will not happen.
