Consensus is agreement among all members of a group or team to support an idea,
proposal, or solution. Three strategies that can be used to helps group reach a
consensus include the following. First, be goal oriented. Effective group members will
keep the group oriented toward their goal. Second, listen. They will listen effectively to
one another by clarifying misunderstanding and giving the speaker eye contact. Third,
groups should have honest dialogue and discussions in which everyone participates
and differences of opinion are sought.
