Is there evidence that humans are genetically preprogrammed to die at a certain point in the lifespan? Explain
What will be an ideal response?
Answer: There is evidence for a cellular clock. Hayflick discovered that although cells replicate and replace worn out or dead cells, there is a limit to the number of cell divisions: 50. The reason is that telomeres, the tips of chromosomes, shorten after each replication. After a while, they are too short and no more replications can occur.
