Explain how a child's physical environment affects his or her development
A child's physical environment determines what learning experiences the child will have. Also, the safety of the environment determines how likely the child is to be injured or exposed to harmful substances. For example, exposure to secondhand smoke has been linked to an increased risk of sudden infant death syndrome (SIDS) and asthma.
