Provide a pro and con argument regarding the creation of genetic tests for diseases that have no cure

A pro argument could be made on the basis of individual self-determination (autonomy) over paternalism. If people knew that they were going to suffer from a disease for which there was no cure, they could plan their presymptom lives in ways that maximize their pleasure and perhaps even plan their reproductive lives around the condition. A con argument could be based on the fact that nothing can be done about it so it would be beneficent not to know. If one knew, especially if the tests were done prenatally, would abortion be pushed? Pressure brought on by information regarding these issues has caused the unraveling and breakdown of many families. It is possible that such knowledge could affect one's insurance and employment possibilities, leading to discrimination.
