Aphrodite, Eros, & Pan's still has really been known to bring about the ideas and style of the Hellenistic Burlesque. This style is very consistent with the theatre and poetry of the Hellenistic period. The emphasis on this statue is a sort of lusty human, with a little but of modesty within a period of not so much modesty. This sculpture was found on the island of Delos. This sculpture was not meant for a temple or a sacred place. The three figures ion the group are Pan, Aphrodite, and Eros. Pan is half man half goat from Greek mythology that lived in the woods. Aphrodite is the goddess of love, who is trying to get away from pan. She is using one of her sandals to protect herself. Eros, is Aphrodite's son coming to try to save her. This sculpture does not at all look like Aphrodite is getting attacked or aggressive, it is more playful. All the characters seem to be smiling.
