When Nadia feels angry, she frowns and her face flushes bright red. Compare and contrast the explanations that the two theories of emotion--Biological and Social Interaction--would give for Nadia’s expressions of anger.

What will be an ideal response?

According to the Biological Theory, Nadia’s expression of anger would reflect ancient, adaptive behaviors. Other primitive humans seeing Nadia’s expression would be able to assess her levels of aggression, and therefore would be more likely to survive. On the other hand, the Social Interaction Theory would suggest that Nadia’s expression of anger is reinforced by others’ perceptions of and reactions to her expression. If she wants to express anger, she will continue to make similar expressions in the future.
