Describe the appropriate use of an emergency eyewash station

What will be an ideal response?

The proper steps to using an emergency eyewash station are: (1) remove the caps covering the eyewash faucets. (2) Turn on the water flow to a rate of about 0.5 gallons per minute. Water temperature should be warm, between 60 to 95 degrees. (3) Hold the eyelids open with the index finger and thumb. Do not touch the eyeballs. If easy to do, contact lenses should be removed. Rinse fingers well. Do not use the same finger to hold open the eyelids unless thoroughly washed of possible chemical contamination. (4) Maintain water contact with the eyes for the recommended rinsing time, 5 to 60 minutes, even if uncomfortable.
