Describe some of the major failings of socialism.

What will be an ideal response?

Agricultural collectives failed to produce enough food and often were associated with repression and violence. Much wealth was transferred from rural areas to urban areas. Industrial production was inefficient due to both poor planning and unmotivated workers. There was a lack of consumer choices. Authoritarian regimes often used coercion and violated basic human rights.
