What are the benefits and weaknesses of e-government? Though many Americans have access to the Internet, should government services be tailored based on access? Why or why not?

What will be an ideal response?

The government uses e-government to allow citizens to file their taxes, renew their motor vehicle registrations, check on traffic congestion, obtain a police report, pay a traffic ticket, or apply for a job. E-government has the potential to improve government’s performance and allow citizens to connect more easily to government, which is transforming how citizens view government. However, the rise of e-government raises questions of access and equity as well as organizational questions that might alter the existing patterns of bureaucratic behavior, authority, and power. Also issues of security and privacy are introduced with e-government.
