Zelazo, et. al (1993) and Kerr et. al (2007) to demonstrate that opportunity to practice a motor activity
such as walking is essential. If limited opportunity is provided, the motor skill can be delayed. Thelen
example in textbook– walking occurs due to innateschedule and change in muscle strength to body
weight ratio. In this example, nutrition, opportunity to practice and genetic factors, such as cerebral
palsy, all can play an interacting role.
